Fort McKay First Nation Majority owned Companies

The Nation’s business interests are conducted through a wholly owned Holding Company which oversees seven (7) companies. The investment approach is to select industry leaders as partners and invest equally with them in the creation of a new company that we believe will be able to provide the services/products which are needed by clients.

In a portfolio company, FMFN typically hold majority ownership (51%) and assign responsibility for day-to-day operations to our skilled partner, who holds minority ownership (49%).

As majority owners in these companies, and through Board representation and oversight that the company high expectation of customers and shareholders are met.

List below are the FMFN majority owned companies:

In the Athabasca region, there is a looming shortage of aggregate for road construction and regional infrastructure development. Hammerstone quarry provides a significant, local, secure, year-round source of limestone aggregates and environmental materials that will help enhance the sustainability and environmental performance of the oil sands industry.

Hammerstone's assets include over 750 million tonnes of limestone reserves within the existing Muskeg Valley Quarry and related Hammerstone Project which collectively encompass over 50 years of production life within its 3,600 acres. Hammerstone believes the strong global demand for oil and the heightened profile of Alberta's oil sands will ensure long-term demand for our limestone products.

Hammerstone Corporation also holds leases and permits for limestone and other minerals covering approximately 700,000 additional acres in the immediately surrounding area.
