Mathieu Leger: General Manager of Logistics
With over 20 years of industry experience, Mathieu Leger began his career 15 years ago with Fort McKay Group of Companies LP (FMGOC) with and is an avid supporter of the Fort McKay First Nation community.
Mathieu started at FMGOC in 2001 as a truck driver and quickly advanced to Manager of Logistics by 2003. From there Mathieu continued to grow with the business and became the Senior Manager for Logistics at Syncrude in 2005 where he managed the operations for Logistics, Environment, Warehouse, Mailroom, Fuel Hauling, and Transportation for the next 3 years. He was then promoted to Executive Director of Operations which he held for 5 years before taking on the role of interim CEO in both 2012 and again later in 2013. From 2014 to present, Mathieu remains a strong addition to the FMGOC team in his role as the General Manager for Logistics for both the Fort McMurray and Edmonton offices. Managing a team of 360 employees has allowed Mathieu to strengthen his leadership responsibilities in the organization.
As part of his role, Mathieu develops strategies to lead the supply chain planning, scheduling and logistics components of the Fort McKay Businesses by understanding, defining, developing & implementing processes. He also ensures the effective management of inventory and assets in relation to business profitability and the management of contracts for quality delivery performance, while overseeing costs and budgets and implementing solutions that measure performance. Mathieu’s core focus is to expand the business by promoting transportation, warehousing, and logistics.
Mathieu’s accomplishments and expertise have assisted to gain new business while creating lasting partnerships with industry leaders. His positive outlook and leadership skills have transferred to all employees from management to front line staff. He has positioned the Logistics division to be an asset to all companies developing in the Alberta Oil Sands; ensuring success for years to come.
Mathieu enjoys golf, hockey and spending time with his family. He currently resides in Fort Saskatchewan AB.
Tanya Solomone: Health, Safety & Environment Manager
TanyaSolomoneis the Health, Safety & Environment Manger for the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP. Tanya completed her Environmental Technology diploma in 2005; furthering her education Tanya became certified with completion of a National Construction Safety Officer, NSCO designation in 2011 and obtained her Occupational Health and Safety Certificate in 2012. Tanya started with Fort McKay Group of Companies LP in 2005 as an Environmental Technician and soon became an embedded Environmental Specialist in 2008 with Shell Canada.
Developing her safety career Tanya became a HSE Advisor responsible for the environmental and trucking division at Syncrude site. Currently the HSE Manager Tanya has over 9 years' experience in Health, Safety & Environment ensuring compliance with all applicable safety legislation. Tanya has received several awards since joining the company ranging from; Safety Excellence, to Team Player of the Year, as well as Employee of the Year.
Dawn Davis: Human Resource Manager
A Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nation Band Member, Dawn moved to the Wood Buffalo Region in 2007 and immediately started working with the Fort McKay Group of Companies Human Resources Department. Dawn graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 2004 from Saint Mary's University in Nova Scotia, with a double major in Human Resource Management and Marketing, along with a Certificate in Human Resources. She went on to study Indigenous Leadership and Management, is a member of the Canadian Aboriginal Human Resources Management Association, and also continues to study the ever-changing Human Resources field.
After spending a couple of years in the insurance industry and the Health and Safety field, she moved into the Human Resources field to follow her field of study. Currently the Human Resource Manager, she is dedicated to hard work and leadership for the whole group. Dawn promotes aboriginal employment, retention, success and development, believes in continuing education and the role of Human Resources as a strategic partner for business development and enhancement.
Maurice Pitre: Operations Manager for Site Services
Maurice Pitre holds the position of Operations Manager at Fort McKay Strategic Services for Site Services at Suncor in Fort McMurray AB. Mr. Pitre held the position of General Forman and Assistant Manager for 3 years prior to moving into the position of Operations Manager leading Site Services division.
Maurice is a strategic, analytical, team leader that joins production of operations with Health and Safety in the forefront of all contract commitments. He completed the Project Management Program at Keyano College in 2012 and has held his National Construction Safety Officer Certificate since 2009, which has assisted him in a full understanding of Employer Legislated responsibilities.
Maurice brings 20 years of experience of Equipment Operations and Leadership to Fort McKay. Mr. Pitre is a homeowner in Fort McMurray and has been in the Oil Sands for the past 5 years.
Darren Krushelniski: Operations Manager
Darren Krushelniski is an Operations Manager for Fort McKay Strategic Services LP. In this role, he is responsible for the management of Shell Albian site on behalf of Fort McKay Group of Companies LP (FMGOC). Both he and his team work closely with Shell operations and earthworks to meet goals and timelines. One of his key responsibilities is to ensure work safety, productivity and cost efficiency for the client.
Prior to 2014 when he joined FMGOC, he began in the coal mining industry in 1989 as a labor and worked his way through equipment and into a supervision role in the early 90's. During his 18 years with a coal mine in the Elk Valley, he was promoted to front line leadership roles and then to a General Forman. He continued in this career working for several additional mining companies and oil sands projects, in addition to Shell, including; Syncrude and Kearl - all of which advanced into leadership roles.
Darren believes that people are his greatest asset and that he is privileged to guide and lead, empowering them to make good decisions and treat one another fairly and with respect.
Jamie Rice: Account Manager
Jamie offers a history of success spearheading all facets of operations management in multiple companies and accounts. By applying strong business acumen, systems acuity, process dedication, and leadership, Jamie is an advocate for delivering operational excellence.
Jamie key role is the Account Manager for the Shell contract under Fort McKay Logistics. He is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the contract which involves Interfacing with the client and other contract stakeholders and ensuring that day to day operations are run effectively and up to a high standard.
He launched his Supply Chain Management career with DHL Supply Chain over 8 years ago where he started as a material handler and was quickly promoted through the ranks to General Manager.
When Jamie is not busy at the office you can find him outdoors, hiking, biking, snowboarding or playing golf.
Fadi Mrouwe - Mine Operations Manager for FMGOC Strategic Services Syncrude
Now bringing over 13 years of mining experience to his team, Fadi began his career with Fort McKay Group of Companies (FMGOC) in 2011 as a heavy equipment operator at Syncrude Aurora. He was promoted to a full-time team lead position within a year. As a team lead, he oversaw multiple projects and crews. In 2014, Fadi accepted an interim general foreman role and by late 2015 was appointed the interim mine manager at Syncrude Base Mine. He has been the mine operations manager since September 2014. As the Mine Operations Manager, Fadi oversees the embedded workforce at within Syncrude Mining.
Previous to joining the FMGOC, Fadi held a supervisor role with another mining contractor company at Syncrude Aurora for over 5 years, where he was responsible for overseeing the completion of winter reclamation amongst other projects.
Fadi's knowledge base is extensive in routine and non-routine operations of multiple equipment types, client relations as well as mining processes such as reclamation, one-off project work, and embedded operations.
Recently Fadi achieved the Project Management Profession (PMP) designation and is currently working on completing the Construction Management Program through Keyano College in Fort McMurray. Previously Fadi completed a degree program in Computer Systems Management.
Brad Ramstead - Manager of the Bison Ranch
Brad started working for Fort McKay Group of Companies (FMGOC) in March 1995 and has been part of the growing company for over 20 years. He holds the longest tenure of any current FMGOC employee.
Born and raised in Alberta, Brad spent his early years learning about wildlife, environment and all facets of resource management. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 1986 with B.Sc. in biological sciences and in from LCC in 1988, with his MSc equivalent in Renewable Resource Management. Early work as a biologist with the Alberta government and the National park system eventually brought him to Fort McMurray in 1991.
Brad worked as reclamation scientist at Syncrude and became directly involved in the new project of utilizing wood bison to test the reclamation successes and the formation of Beaver Creek Wood Bison ranch in 1993. Working the reclamation component of the bison ranch in the early years led into a supervisory and then Operations Manager of Environment. The unique project has been successful through operating a functional bison ranch under the web of oil sands safety protocols and systems. Finding the balance with safety in daily tasks is the forefront of each successful day.
The Bison Ranch is almost 25 years old and has reached a safety milestone, making it free of any recordable injuries for 13 years in May 2017. This is a true testament to its success. Seeing the bison thrive on this landscape makes it a reward to come to work each day.
Robert Cochrane: Operations Manager
Robert Cochrane, originally from St John’s, Newfoundland started his career with Fort McKay Group of Companies LP in 2007 and in 2008 he received the Employee of the Year Award for Logistics.
During his time with the organization, Robert has worked in several areas of the company including; trucking, warehousing and project management; learning as much as he could each step along the way. This supported his successful completion of the National Construction Safety Officer, NCSO certificate at the Alberta Construction Safety Association, ACSA in 2009. Furthering his career path in Safety, he became a Supervisor on the Syncrude site under the Logistics division. Since that time he’s also completed his Certificate in Union Contract Negotiations and is working on finishing his designation to be a Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP).
In 2014 Robert accepted the position of Operations Manager for Logistics, which he holds currently. This role encompasses overseeing all client contracts, new work opportunities, and commercial needs while managing 400 employees, account managers, and terminal manager under his responsibilities.
Robert promotes working hard and doing the right thing. He values the advice his Father gave him at 18 years old, “Change is constant. Always be prepared for that. Embrace it and it will carry you into great success”.
Kristen Kane: Account Manager
Kristen joined Fort McKay Logistic LP in 2005 in the role of a dispatcher. She quickly worked her way up in the organization in the areas of transportation and warehousing services. In 2008 she was promoted to Team Lead for the warehouse division and again in 2011 as the Team Lead for transportation. In 2013, her career was advanced again to Supervisor for a supply chain contract and as of 2014, she began acting in the role of an Account Manager. Her varied background in material handling, safety, trucking, and supervisory, provided the perfect foundation for her current role for one of Fort McKay Group of Companies Integrated Supply Chain Management contracts.
She has developed strong and stable client relationships and oversees the Syncrude account where she manages operations in both Edmonton and Fort McMurray. This includes all inbound and outgoing freight, transportation of all materials, warehousing, manage yards, tool cribs, and site stores.
Kristen graduated in 2002 from the Academy Canada in Newfoundland, successfully completing her Law Enforcement Administration. Since then she has received training in Leadership for Safety Excellence, Basic Instruction Techniques, Principles of Health & Safety and Operational Health & Safety Legislation Awareness.
Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time camping - relaxing with friends and family around a campfire. She also has taken an interest in golf, which she’s quickly falling in love with.
